In the opening sequences of Thriller films usually involve main events that are relevent to the rest of the film, occassionally text appears on screen naming the main members of the cast, the director, the writer and other key members behind the making of the film. A good example of a good opening sequence is the film Amelie - although this film is no where near the Thriller genre, the opening sequences keep to this rules above. However the film makers have made sure that these openings have the hook-ablility factor for the audience, so they keep watching the film (which is what the film makers want).
Amelie Opening
As I said before, Thriller films follow these rules by naming the main actors involved in the film, the Director, the Writer, the Editor etc etc. I plan on breaking these rules, though only slightly, by making the text become part of the shot itself. I can not find a video example of this, although I know this is not an original idea, so I shall describe it. Let us say that a girl is walking past a blank wall, as she walks from left to right of the shot, the text will appear on the wall as if it was there the whole time. I like this effect on the credits, it allows he text to become part of the shot and action, like it really is part of the shot (well usually it is added via CGI)
