This is my story board for the opening of my film - I have used post stick notes so I can move shots around easily, if necessary, I have also written on the back of the post stick notes about the details of the shot i.e. the angles, the focus etc.
The shots that I will mainly be using are extremely close ups, mainly during the title shots, however a series of medium and medium long shots will also be used.
The different angles vary from birds eye view shots, directly above the action, and low and high angle shots. I will also be using tracking and movement shots particularly when the camera is following the victim in her house.
Something that I have used which may break the rules of the typical Thrill genre, is that I am making the titles part of the shot, like I originally planned. I am not going to be cutting out of one shot and then putting in the titles; I think that this will almost break up the action, when I want the opening titles to have a big impact on the audience and so I plan on keeping the titles in the shot. This should be completely doable however I need to be aware on what is going on in the action and that there should be space in insert the text when editing it.
There are only a few changes that I plan on making - originally I had the idea of the Vampire being in a dark house/shadowy place when gearing up however I have thought that this will play too much into the stereotype and so I plan on finding an average plain room however, making sure that any and all walls shown in these scene must be plain/white. I want all the focus to be on her as she is gearing up.
Another change is that when the Victim answers the door and checks outside, I want to add another shot to show the Victim checking either side of the door before she shuts the door and goes back down the hall of her house. This will lengthen my opening titles but also will add more suspense to the audience.
Making this story board has allowed me to created a list of props/things I will need for the making of the opening of my film;
Prop/Thing List:
- Clothing (Long coat, boots, belt, gun holster. knife pocket, belt)
- Weapons (Knife, gun)
- Living room access (for Victim scenes)
- Plain room access (for Vampire scenes)
- Forest/Woodland area access (for Vampire scenes)
- Vampire research
- Fire place access (for end scene)
- Fangs (Internet and make-up shops)
- Black marker (for Victim scene)
I will probably be adding to this list as the filming commences and I will put a [X] next to the props/things that I have.
Making this story board has allowed me to also think into who will be making my film, if it ever became properly made. I have thought and, looking at the way that I plan on making the film as well as looking at the plan for the whole film, and I think that this film will be more of an independent film instead of a big Hollywood blockbuster. I think this also would fit the style of the film more and how the making of it would go for example, if I was helping behind the scenes on this film, I would make sure that the casting was done well, by the actors who fit the character well not the ones with the most money. I would also make sure that we would use our own resources and not let the film cost at least a millions pounds, at least.
